Filter Canister Terms
Face Plate: Square plastic frame that screws canister to the liner on SFS and RS canisters.
FacePlate Gasket: Square black rubber gasket that seals the connection between the pool wall and skimmer canister making it watertight on SFS and RS canisters.
Filter Strainer Basket: Plastic strainer found in SFS, SFX, RS, and CP-2000 filtration systems that collects debris.
Filter Canister: Filtration system that has a filter inside with a pump attached to circulate and clean water.

Filter Cartridge: Heavy-duty pleated round paper tubes that filter the water as it circulated through the pump. A/C type filters fit CP-2000, SFS1000, SFS2000, RP800, RP1000, RP2000, RX1000, RX1500, RX2000, SFX1000 SFS1500 Filtration Systems. D type filters fit SFS600, SFS400, RP600, RP400, SFX600, and RX600 Filtration Systems.

Fitting Gasket: Black rubber gasket that fits multiple suction and returns fittings.
This gasket fits normally threaded SUCTION fittings and ONLY the SNAP on Return fittings.
It does not fit the Threaded return fitting.

Gasket: Round or square rubber piece that seals fittings and connections of the pool and keeps water from leaking.

Rubber Nozzle/Gasket: This rubber nozzle fits on the end of the SFX330 or RX330 pump to seal the connection between the motor and the return area of the canister.

Valve Stem: A capped valve that allows inflation of all Ring pools.

Frame Terms
Beam Plugs: A black plastic cap that goes into each outside end of the horizontal beams on all Oval Ring Pools.

EZ Link T-Fitting: A modified T-Fitting designed to be used as the final T-Fitting inserted in an Elite round metal pool frame.
- Do not use more than one EZ Link T-Fitting per pool.
Frame: Metal poles consisting of Horizontal, Vertical, and T-shaped pieces.
Horizontal Beams: Oblong, Oval or Round metal beams that connect horizontally to the T-fittings.
Leg Caps: Black plastic Round, Oval, or Oblong parts that keep the legs from sinking into the ground.
Pins and Grommets: Connect the metal frame pieces together on frame pools.
Pipe Caps: Black plastic caps that go into all U-shaped pipes on oval or rectangle pools
T-Fittings: Round, Oval, or Oblong T-shaped metal piece that connects horizontal beams with vertical legs on all metal frame pools.
U-Shape Pipe: These are the metal parts used for vertical legs on the oval and rectangle-shaped pools.
V-Shaped Spring Pin: Spring pin used inside vertical legs to lock the legs to the horizontal beams.
Vertical Legs: Oblong, Oval or Round metal legs that connect vertically to the T-fittings.
Liner Terms
Drain Cap: White plastic cap that screws onto drain hole of canister or pool liner.
Drain Plug: Plug found on the interior side of the drain cap. Must be pulled to release water from the liner.
Dry Patch: Small patch of peel-and-stick vinyl that must be applied when pool liner is dry and clean.
Face Plate: Square plastic frame that screws canister to the liner on SFS canisters.
Internal Check Valve: Small flap inside valve stem that helps keep air from escaping.
Liner: PVC material that holds the water.
Model Number: Identifying the number found on side of the pool or on the pump.
Pool Cover: PVC material that covers the pool and has a rope to secure them.
Top Ring: Top portion of a Ring pool that you must be inflated before filling with water.
Valve Stem: A capped valve that allows inflation of all Ring pools.
Wet Patch: Small patch of vinyl that can be applied with an adhesive while there is water in the pool.
Pool Accessories Terms
Canopy: Half dome shape cover that attaches to pool to create shade.
Pool Canopy Poles: Set of 3 sectional metal poles which may be assembled to support the pool canopy accessory above the pool surface.
Return Sprayer: Fitting that attaches to the return side and when the pump is on. It creates a shower or fountain type effect.
Solar Blanket: PVC material cover that helps pool water stay warm.
Solar Mats: Black mat that water runs through and uses solar energy to heat the pool water.
Telescoping Pole: Aluminum pole that is extendable in length and attaches to vacuum heads and leaf net.
UV Sanitizer: Filtration system that uses ultraviolet light to eliminate harmful waterborne pathogens without chemicals.
UV Tubes: Ultraviolet light tubes used in the UV sanitizers.
Vacuum Adapter: The white plastic part that sits inside the skimmer, on top of the filter, and connects to vacuum hose for pool maintenance.
Vacuum Head: Blue plastic part that cleans the bottom of the pool. Telescoping pole and vacuum hose/water hose attached to it.
Pump Terms
Gasket: Round or square rubber piece that seals fittings and connections of the pool and keeps water from leaking.
GFCI plug: Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter. The built-in circuit breaker in cord designed to reduce the risk of electrical shock.
Impeller: White plastic fins on rotor assembly that moves water inside the pump.
Magnetic Main Body: Large square black plastic housing for the magnet that makes the rotor spin. It has the electrical cord and the GFCI attached.
Model Number: Identifying number found on the bottom of SFS or RS style pumps, or below the pump discharge on SFX or RX style pumps.
Motor: Sealed magnetic coil, which produces a magnetic field. This magnetic field causes the rotor assembly to turn within the pump chamber.
Motor Seal: Gasket that provides a water-tight seal between motor and canister.
Motor Seal Nut: Thread lock bottom for SFX filtration systems.
Motor Seal Gasket: Small round gasket that helps provide a seal between motor and filter cases.
O-Rings: Round rubber ring that seals connections and keeps parts from leaking water.
Pump: Connects to the canister to circulate the water. Consists of a magnet base with GFCI cord, volute housing, and rotor assembly.
Red Locking Pin: This red locking pin is required to lock the pump into place into the canister to keep it from spinning around when servicing the pump. Attaches to the bottom of any size X-series pumps with 4 screws.
Rotor Assembly: Moving part inside the pump that spins and circulates the water. Consists of magnetic axle and impeller on a shaft with two end caps. [Added] The rotor assembly sits within the pump but is not physically connected.
Rubber End Cap: Black rubber top hat-shaped part that goes onto both ends of the shaft of the rotor assembly.
Shaft: Porcelain rod that connects the magnetic bottom half of the rotor assembly to top plastic half. On smaller pumps, the shaft may be metal.
Volute Housing: Black plastic cover that screws onto F series pumps. Keeps rotor assembly in place and directs the water flow.
Water Quality Terms
1-inch Chlorine Tablets: Used to disinfect pool water and help control algae growth.
Algaecides: Used to eliminate algae.
Chlorine: Chemicals most often used to keep swimming pools free of bacteria.
Chlorine Dispenser (supplied with filter): Used to dispense 1-inch Chlorine tablets ONLY.
Leaf Net with handle: Blue and white net that attaches to pole to allow the collection of leaves and other larger debris from the pool. This is included with the standard maintenance kit or deluxe maintenance kit.
pH Control Chemicals: Used to adjust pH levels Up (Soda Ash) or Down (Acid).
pH Level: The acid-alkaline balance of pool water. If kept at the proper level, it helps sanitizes work better and keeps burning eyes to a minimum.
Superchlorinator aka "Shock": Used to destroy combined chlorine, ammonia, nitrogen, and organic compounds.
Test Kit: Used to check chlorine and pH levels of pool water.
